On the west coast of Chalkidiki, among the olive groves, emerges the monumental architectural complex of the former metochi of the Athonite monastery of Saint Panteleimon.

The earliest references to Saint Panteleimon date back to 1311, although the surviving buildings were erected between 1853 and 1909. This historic complex, which covers an area of 27 stremmata outside the settlement of Nea Flogita, houses a multifunctional Centre of Byzantine Culture.

Although its organizational structure is still in progress, it includes the Byzantine Museum of Chalkidiki, a temporary exhibition hall, a conference hall, a cafe, etc. The permanent exhibition, as well as the Open Conservation Laboratory are already open to the public.
