Dymokastro (Didymo Kastro), most likely identified with ancient Elina, is a fortified hilltop settlement with unobstructed views of the Ionian Sea and its islands – Corfu, Paxoi, Antipaxoi and Lefkada.

Nowadays, its remains only survive at foundation level, yet Dymocastro was a bustling settlement during the Hellenistic period, with three sections clearly delineated by successive fortification walls that extend all the way down to the sea.

The circular cisterns of Dymokastro were used to collect rainwater to serve the needs of the inhabitants, who appear to have worshipped Hermes and deities of the Underworld in small local temples.
