Housed in a petite neoclassical building, the Archaeological Museum of Almyros owes its very existence to the Archaeological Society of Almyros “Othrys.”
The mission statement behind its establishment was pretty clear: to preserve the history of ancient Achaea Phthiotis, Phthiotic Thebes, and Halos.
Nowadays, the Museum features three exhibition halls with finds from the above-mentioned ancient cities, dating from the Neolithic to the Archaic period.
It is also worth noting that the region of Almyros was associated with the myths of Athamas, Phrixus and Helle, as well as Achilles and the Myrmidons.
