The Archaeological Museum of Symi extends across three levels and over two mansions from the 18th and 19th century, the Pharmakidis House and the Chatziagapitos Sala, with their upper and lower floors, kitchens, cisterns and gardens.

The articulated exhibition takes the visitor onto a journey from the modern times to the distant past.

The exhibits on display range from antiquity to the post-Byzantine period, illustrating the island’s history, cultural identity, artistic tradition and social life.

The impressive Hadziagapitou Mansion, restored by the Archaeological Service, presents objects from the modern era in an effort to recreate the interior of a traditional Symian house.

Admission is free on March 6, April 18, May 18, the last weekend of September, on October 28, as well as on the first and third Sunday of each month between November 1 and March 31.
