Have you ever been in a museum where you can not only see the exhibits, but also hear them?

A beautiful Plaka mansion, built in 1842 by the chieftain Georgios Lassanis, houses the collection of 1,200 Greek folk musical instruments of ethnomusicologist Fivos Anoyanakis. The museum was inaugurated in 1991 and contains Greek musical instruments dating from the 18th century to the present day, organized in four sections: membranophones, aerophones, chordophones and idiophones.

Ethnological and musicological interest aside, the most appealing innovation of the museum is that each display case features headphones visitors can pick up to listen to samples of music played with the instruments before them.
