Just 3km from the picturesque Kritsa and with a stunning view of the Mirabello Bay, ancient Lato is the best preserved town of the Classical-Hellenistic period in Crete and one of the best preserved in Greece.
One of the most important Doric city – states on the island, Lato was named after Leto, mother of Apollo and Artemis, and flourished during the 4th-3th centuries BC, leaving behind remains of fortifications, an agora, temples, houses, the prytaneion and a small theatre.
