The town of Distomo is built on the exact same location as the ancient city of Ambrossos, whose finds are housed in the Archaeological Collection in what was formerly a primary school.
The collection also features finds from other cities and settlements of ancient eastern Phocis, such as Medion (its acropolis and cemetery), Antikyra and more. The exhibits cover the period from the Mycenaean to the Early Christian era. Visitors can admire funerary stelae from the Classical and Hellenistic periods, as well as a rich selection of vases that trace the evolution of ceramic art from Mycenaean to Roman times.
