At the entrance of Chora, the renovated Archaeological Museum of Cythera welcomes visitors, with exhibits that unravel the history of the island from the 9th millennium BC to the 3rd century AD.
Among finds from the Minoan colony of Paleopolis and the sanctuaries of Poseidon and Athena, the imposing marble Archaic Lion of Cythera, dating from the 6th century BC, steals the show.
