Myrina evolved into a proto-urban center mainly during the Early and Middle Bronze Age. It peaked between 2500 and 2000 BC, housing 3,000 to 4,000 inhabitants, and is believed to have developed at the same time as the settlement of Poliochni.
Myrina had a rudimentary urban layout, which became evident when streets were unearthed between houses, along with drainage systems with stone-built conduits. The houses themselves were spacious and elongated with two or more rooms.
The residential remains, the fortifications and the rich movable finds brought to light by the excavations attest to the dense and systematic habitation of the settlement, which must have been destroyed several times by earthquakes.
