cities of Phocis, Elateia appears to have played a dominant role throughout history, thanks to its strategic location between northern and southern Greece and the control it exerted over the road axis connecting Thermopylae and Chaeronea.<\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\t\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"section ContentText TitleCenter  \">\n\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"rich-text\">\n\t\t<p>The Archaeological Collection of modern Elateia exhibits finds from the ancient city, the Sanctuary of Athena Cranaia and various sites in western Locris, chronicling the Upper Paleolithic to the Sub-Mycenaean period.<\/p>\n<p>Among the displays are a partial reconstruction of a Neolithic house and the layout of a Mycenaean chamber tomb, accompanied by grave goods discovered during excavations at local cemeteries.<\/p>\n<p>From the historical periods, notable exhibits include a set of imposing female busts and theatrical masks from the cemeteries of Abai, Elateia and
